The next major step in semiconductors for Telecom is no longer GaN-on-SiC!
Fred van Rijs, PhD covers the pivotal semiconductor technologies that were developed in the Netherlands for the RF power part of telecom infrastructure and aided in the tremendous growth of the telecom industry from 2G to 5G. To keep up with new requirements and with the fast pace of the telecom world, new technologies are necessary which will be also discussed during his session at our event SemiCon.
Fred van Rijs studied electrical engineering, including PhD degree at the technical University of Delft. He started in 1992 at Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven on advanced silicon technologies such as SiGe HBT’s. Later he moved to Philips Semiconductors in Nijmegen, which turned into NXP Semiconductors and was there responsible for the development of LDMOS technology for base station RF power amplifiers. Currently, he is working at Ampleon on advanced technologies such as GaN required for future RF power applications.
During the Telecom Society #SemiCon event on Wednesday, June 24, Fred will address the impact of the latest developments on the telecom sector!
